[ Summary ] Histopathology was employed to produce a provisional diagnosis of colorectal tumors. Pit patterns were used to diagnose lesions observed with a stereoscopic microscope. Histopathological examination of resected specimens provided additional information to that obtained through endoscopic procedures. Obtainment, handling and fixation of resected specimens must be conducted precisely. It is also important to properly irrigate and fix specimens for stereoscopic microscopic observation.
