[ Summary ] The 2nd Edition of the JPN Evidence-Based Clinical Guidelines for the Management of Acute Pancreatitis was published in collaboration with the members by the Japanese Society of Abdominal Emergency Medicine, the Japan Pancreas Society and the Research Group for Acute Pancreatitis, sponsored by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Evidence quality was evaluated by the evidence-based classification method used at the Cochrane Library. The levels of recommendation were determined on the basis of evaluation of evidence through consensus of the members in the guideline established by the Japanese Association of Clinical Oncology.
The investigation for the 2nd edition began in May 2006. The 5,916 items were retrieved by means of Medline listings from 2000. 1 through 2006.4 were added to the items of the first edition for analysis and discussion.
A number of new recommendations were made on over than twenty items, of which the objective contents are introduced by summarized tables and fully explained in this report. Further accurate evidence is expected in the near future.
