[ Summary ] Use of our EMR method, employing a 2-channel scope without submucosal injection, started in 1978 at Yamagata Prefectural Central Hospital. It is an excellent treatment, because of its short procedure time, low risk of complications and good long term prognosis. However, the rate of pathologically complete resection of larger lesions, lesions in the U portion and lesions in the lesser curvature are not satisfactory. As a result, our hospital's strategy has been to select ESD for lesions with these difficulties.
