[ Summary ] | The appropriate uses of endoscopic resection methods such as strip biopsy and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for early gastric cancer may produce good outcome with low risk and low cost. It is most appropriate to perform ESD for lesions of over 2 cm and to perform strip biopsy for lesions less than 1 cm. For lesions over 1 cm and less than 2 cm, resection methods should be selected at the discretion of the attending endoscopist. Using such application standards, our one-year local recurrence rate after strip biopsy / ESD was 2.7 % of 75 lesions of gastric epithelial tumor. This result suggests that our application standard for strip biopsy / ESD is reasonable for early gastric cancer. |
