[ Summary ] PET is a valuable imaging tool in the diagnosis of bile duct cancer in relation to staging, evaluation of LN metastasis and operability. However, there is no coverage by healthcare insurance in Japan, so far. FDG-PET is useful in the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer for differential diagnosis, staging, and detection of metastasis and recurrence. However, additional information from MD-CT and MRI would be better in the evaluation of local invasion and detection of small liver metastasis. Multi-modality imaging with MD-CT or MRI (such as PET / CT or fusion imaging) is expected to increase in the future.
