[ Summary ] The incidence of esophageal adenocarcinoma has been rising rapidly. Esophageal adenocarcinoma arises from a background of premalignant Barrett's esophagus. Recent research has led to a much greater understanding of the molecular mechanisms of esophageal adenocarcinoma. This paper reviewed the current understanding of the molecular mechanisms driving the neoplastic progression of Barrett's esophagus.
