| [ Summary ] | Stereotactic body radiation therapy is a new form of radiotherapy to deliver a high dose of radiation to targets, utilizing either a single dose or a small number of fractions with a high degree of precision within the body. Because of the high local control rates for lung tumors without significant side effects, stereotactic radiation therapy may be considered an alternative to surgical treatment in patients not amenable to invasive approaches. Palliative radiation therapy to relieve thoracic symptoms due to metastatic tumors (e.g., pain, hemosputum, dyspnea, SVC syndrome... ) is also very effective. | |
