[ Summary ] Misplacement of gastrostomy catheters into the abdominal lumen must be avoided. It is necessary to master correct and careful methods for removal and insertion. Changing non-balloon type catheters is achieved by forceful traction and in particular attachment is difficult. When the warping ability of an internal bumper has decreased because of long-term use, the catheter is cut at the skin level and removed endoscopically, but never left in the stomach. Finally, it must be confirmed that the new catheter is correctly inserted into the gastric lumen before feeding.
