[ Summary ] Magnifying endoscopy combined with Narrow Band Imaging (NBI) system yields very clear images of fine mucosal structures and mucosal capillaries on the gastric surface. Capillary patterns of superficial depressed carcinomas can be classified into two types : network and corkscrew patterns, which correspond to well and poorly differentiated adenomocarcinoma, respectively. Therefore, magnifying endoscopy with the NBI system can be a powerful tool for optical pathology of gastric tumors.
