[ Summary ] Indications for endoscopic treatment of colorectal polyps are (1) lesions 5 mm or more in diameter, and (2) superficial flat/depressed lesions regardless of the size. Protruding or superficial elevated lesions less than 5 mm in diameter should be followed up at an interval of two or three years. Practically, however, such lesions are also removed endoscopically to meet the requests of patients and referring doctors. With the development of endoscopic techniques for removal of colorectal neoplasms, the demands for less invasive treatment of widespread lesions such as planned piecemeal resection and the submucosal dissection are increasing.
