[ Summary ] Literature on the effects of tobacco smoke and alcohol intake on human stomach carcinogenesis are reviewed. Although both daily habits have not been established as risk factors for gastric cancer, associations linking smoking to differentiated types of cancer or smoking and alcohol intake to cardia cancer were noted.
