[ Summary ] A guideline preparation committee for the treatment of gastric ulcers was formed. Published articles containing information on both H.pylori eradication and gastric ulcer recurrence were searched and reviewed. Results Successful H.pylori eradication was found to induce a better response in terms gastric ulcer healing (grade A, level I). Ulcer recurrence was significantly less common among H.pylori-cured patients vs. non-cured patients (grade A, level I). Triple therapy with proton pump inhibitor, amoxicillin and clarithromycin was recommended for H.pylori eradication in Japanese patients.
