[ Summary ] There are a number of reports suggesting that psychosocial factors play an important role on the condition of patients with non-ulcer dyspepsia. There are also some reports suggesting the effectiveness of a biopsychosocial approach, employed to treat NUD patients. However, all of these approroaches need the assistance of psychological specialists. Therefore, there are not adequate medical resources for primary physicians is to employ special psychotherapy for these patients in Japan.
In this article, we proposed a simple method to treat NUD patients in daily outpatient clinics. Interviews, examinations and medications are common strategies for the primary physician. We believe those methods could be an effective method for holistic treatment if they are employed properly to treat the patients with psychosocial problems. We presented an outline of our normal strategy for treating NUD patients, and our fudamental thoughts on functional physical diseases.
