[ Summary ] |
A randomized controlled study was performed to determine the efficacy levels between the consensus interferon (CIFN) and IFN-nα. CIFN was administered for 24 weeks (everyday for two weeks followed by three times a week for 22 weeks) to chronic hepatitis C patients. The complete response (CR) rate was 26.3% in patients with high viral loads (≥100kc/ml) dosed at 18MU. The CR rate was 16.7% in patients with genotype 1b and high viral loads. The above data were significantly superior to those with IFN-nα treatment. Twelve MU of CIFN was the doseage in patients with low viral loads, and the CR rate of those patients was relatively good (73.3%). CIFN is indicated for treatment of chronic hepatitis C patients with viral loads of less than 700kc/ml. |
