[ Summary ] Since PEG was developed by Gauderer and Ponsky in 1980, it used has spreaded through out Japan partic ularly in the late 1990's. As the number of PEG has increased, the number of complications has risen. The types of complications are devided into 3 periods occurring during the operation, in early stage and in late stage after the operation. In this manuscrips, we discribed prevention and treatment for typical complications. Since a large number occurred in the early stage, the importance of care in the early stage is pointed out. The incidence of complications is easily influenced by the care given after operation. Sufficient care, prevention, early detection and early treatment way prevent serious complication.
