[ Summary ] With the rapid advances in helical computed tomography and computer technology, virtual endoscopy has recently come into practical for use in the bronchus and major vessels. Whether 3D-CT is useful or not in the biliary tract and pancreas, it has already been put into use in the preoperative inspections for laparoscopic cholecystectomy, and so on. This system is applicable for the diagnosis of abnormalities in the portal system and arterial system, such as cases of pancreatic carcinomas. CT endoscopy can also be expected to be useful for the evaluation of biliary tract abnormalities. It seems to be useful for detailed diagnosis of the junction form in the pancreas, but further advances are necessary for contrast administration. CT virtual endoscopy of the biliary tract and pancreas are in their initial stages. This is a field where advances are expected in the future implementation of virtual reality.
