[ Summary ] The aim of this study was to assess the long-term outcome of neoplastic cysts of the pancreas. Because malignant transformation of serous cystadenoma is extremely rare, this benign tumor can be followed up, if the tumor does not cause symptoms and displays a typical appearance on images. In cases of hyperplasia of intraductal papillary tumors of the pancreas, follow up is mandatory. Adenoma and carcinoma cases of this type of tumor should be resected. However, this type of tumor is slow growing, so that close follow-up is one option. This study emphasizes avoiding early surgical resection in patients with suspected serous cystadenoma and intraductal papillary mucinous tumors of the pancreas.
