[ Summary ] Pancreaticobiliary maljunction is a congenital anomaly defined as an abnormal union of the pancreatic and biliary ducts located outside of the duodenal wall. A total of 1,776 cases with pancreaticobiliary maljunction were registered in the Japanese Study Group on Pancreaticobiliary Maljunction between 1990 and 2000 and were grouped into 3 types. However, the classification of pancreaticobiliary maljunction has not yet achieved consensus. An internationally recognizable classification that may reflect exact clinical conditions should be established based on the analyses of the cases registered during the 10 year period.
