| [ Summary ] | Hepatic tuberculosis is frequently found in autopsies of patients with disseminated or intestinal tuberculosis. We should suspect the existence of hepatic tuberculosis in patients with lung tuberculosis, with upper abdominal symptoms and/or liver dysfunctions. There are a few cases of hepatic tuberculosis without any evidence of active disease in the lung. Peritoneoscopy is important to avoid missing uncommon forms of hepatic tuberculosis. Peritoneoscopy may reveal a few or many white spots on the liver surface. We can histologically diagnose the hepatic tuberculosis with biopsy spiecemens having these white spots. Hepatic tuberculosis is curable by appropriate treatment. | |
