[ Summary ] Diffuse redness of the fundic mucosa of the stomach was characteristic of H.pylori (Hp) infection. The hemoglobin index (IHb) can quantitatively express the grade of the diffuse redness of the gastric mucosa. Endoscopic diagnosis of Hp eradication was tried for IHb measurement.
The IHb value for cases with successful eradication fell below 60 three months after eradication and lowered values continued thereafter. In some cases of unsuccessful eradication, IHb values fell below 60 one month after HP eradication. However, IHb values continued to be greater than 60 three months after eradication.
Determining the cut off index for IHb to be 60, the results of diagnoses were determined to have a sensitivity and a specificity of 100% respectively.
