[ Summary ] |
Nearly 20 years have passed since the development of endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS). Because of its high spatial resolution, EUS is now widely used in diagnosing gastrointestinal diseases. With EUS, it is possible to depict local or diffuse changes in echogenicity of the pancreatic parenchyma, as well as to visualize changes in the main pancreatic duct and branch ducts. Although practice is required to master EUS procedures, images obtained by using EUS have high diagnostic value. More widespread use of EUS will contribute to early detection and precise diagnosis of pancreatic diseases. |
