[ Summary ] Acute hemorrhagic rectal ulcers exhibited massive bleeding in aged patients, who had been bedridden for serious diseases, such as cerebrovascular disease or fractures of the femoral bone. Rectal ulcers were located in the lower rectum. Sometimes there were multiple lesions. The etiology suggested rectal mucosal ischemia. It was necessary to treat rectal bleeding immediately, with either endoscopic hemostasis or transanal suture ligation.
