[ Summary ] Early hepatocellular carcinoma (eHCC) is macroscopically defined as a nodular lesion that shows no substantial alternation in the hepatic architecture and frequently contains a portal structure. eHCC has a specific intratumoral hemodynamics ; preserved portal blood flow, demonstrated on portal-CT (CTAP), in one-third of the lesions and reduced arterial blood flow on arterial-CT (CTA) in more than one-half, compared to the surrounding parenchyma. Unenhanced CT shows some lesions of eHCC as low attenuation. These lesions displayed microscopically mild to moderate fatty changes.
