[ Summary ] An indocyanine green (ICG) derivative (ICG-sulfo-OSu) has heen developed as an antibody labeling material, suitable for vital immunohistochemical staining, and an appropriate fluorescence imaging system for ICG-sulf-OSu using IR(infrared rays). The aims of the study aims are to demonstrate an antibody labeling substance, at the tissue level, using this imaging system. The incubation of gastric cancer specimens with ICG-sulfo-OSu-anti-CEA antibody-complex resulted in positive staining of the lesion areas. IR fluorescence was observed as a well-matched coincidence of oxidized DAB positive sites. No chemical luminescence was confirmed in the rest of the neoplastic areas with ICG-sulfo-OSu complex. Specific antibodies with ICG-sulfo-OSu have significant affinitjes to allow labeling the cancer cells and reflectance of sufficient amounts of fluorescence by IR rays for development of a system for endoscopical detection of microcancers, using the immunohistochemical staining method.
