[ Summary ] The wall of a normal duodenal bulb is recognized as having five layers in its structure, as seen in other GI tract walls. llyperechoic spots are visualized in the second layer and thought to be composed of Brunner's glands. By using EUS images, we are able to describe duodenal ulcers as well as gastric ulcers. Therefore, the depth of duodenal ulcers can be evaluated. The fusion of the second layer and fourth layer may be recognized as part of the healing process. The destruction of the five-layer structure is observed in the ridge, and this finding has not been altered by follow-up studies.
