[ Summary ] Today's our consern for cancer of the digestive tract is the discovery and endoscopic treatment in its early atage. Some early cancers and benign tumors can be curatively treated by endoscopy (endoscopic polypectomy, EMR, heatprobe method, etc.). The procedures, however, are not completely free from hazards or complication, and their indications must be strictly determined. Using several auxilary devices to prevent complications, endoscopic treatment of large cancers has increased. Most of m2-esophageal cancer, m-well differentiated gastric cancer and sm1-colorectal cancer is treated without lymphnodal metastasis (absolute indication). Indication for endoscopic treatment for other types of early cancer should be determined on a case by case basis.
