[ Summary ] The skin and intestine stem from different origins, however they show many structural and functional similarities. Both of them are an interface to the external world and play a critical role in the maintenance of homeostasis because of their efficient function as a barrier preventing the invasion of various stimuli or microorganisms. Therefore, they are thought to be closely related organs. In this section, we described the following hereditary intestinal diseases (polyposis coli) associated with skin lesions Peutz-Jeghers syndrome, Gardner syndrome and Cowden disease.
