[ Summary ] The important points during the insertion of a colonoscope are ; to minimize pushing, frequently pull back, and suck air. When you do not see a clear passage, you should pull the scope back until its tip detaches from the intestinal wall. Even when the colonic lumen is readily recoguizable, you should still pull the scope back in order to telescope the colon. It is vital to pass the rectosigmoid junction without pushing the scope, and to shorten the sigmoid colon : otherwise, it would become difficult to go beyond this point.
