[ Summary ] We performed a colonoscopy by two men method. With this method, depressed type early colorectal cancers may be detected.
In our method, 1) the operator and his assistant perform colonoscopy sitting on chairs. 2) The operator holds the handling part of the scope with both hands. He controls the angulation of the scope and rotates its axis. 3) The assistant holds the shaft part of the scope and inserts it under the operator's direction, looking at the lumen on the monitor display. 4) The operator (not his assistant) pulls the scope back when necessary. 5) No fluoroscopy is used.
Our method has some merits as follows. 1) The operator may control the angulation of the scope as he wishes. 2) It is easy to learn this method especially for beginners. 3) The operator does not feel so tired. 4) The operator performs the colonoscopy from a stable position.
