[ Summary ] Jejunal reflux of bile and pancreatic juice into the remnant stomachis one of the major biological changes after distal gastrectomy, whichhas been considered to be associated with carcinoma in remnant stomach.Because of the poor prognosis, prophylaxis against the development ofremnant carcinoma seems important. The use of reflux-preventing operation is recommended. In order to find out in situ carcinoma, we recommendroutine endoscopic examinationof the patients begining 15 to 20 years after gastrectomy and obtaining multiple biopsy from the region of the stoma and from any mucosal abnormalities
