[ Summary ] Pathological findings of primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) are described. The specific pathological changes involving the bile duct are chronic nonspecific inflammation with sclerosis. In the late stages of PSC, dilated bile ducts often contain bilirubin-calcium stones and rarely show cholangiocellular carcinoma. In the hepatic parenchyma, not only cholestatic change but also hepatitic change occur frequently. In addition to pathological findings, clinical and radiological findings are required for a definitive diagnosis of PSC.
