[ Summary ] Abnormal gastric movement, abnormal gastric acid secretion, H.pylori and biliary tract dysfunction, as well as psychological factors are among many agents thought to be implicated in the pathogenesis of NUD. Psychologic factors such as anxiety and depression may cause mental stress, creating abnormal gastric movements along with abnormal gastric acid secretion, leading to digestive difficulties. Moreover, the symptoms of NUD could trigger anxiety and depression, creating a vicious circle. Therefore, in NUD therapy, a psychosomatic based approach is necessary in some cases, since it is quite important to break this vicious cycle.
