| [ Summary ] | We review in this article the treatment modalities of the modern medicine for inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and entero Behcet disease), and discuss the possible effects of Kampo medicine for these disorders. Kakkon-oren-ogon-to or Ogon-to is found to be effective for patients with ulcerative colitis and entero Behcet disease. However, we have been unable to find Kampo formulas effective for Crohn's disease. We believe that there are many Kampo formulas which are potentially effective for the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases. | |
