[ Summary ] |
Patients with sporadic hepatitis A (HA), especially severe cases, have not been rare to date. Thus, we have analyzed the clinicopathological features of these HA patients and the relationship with hepatitis A virus (HAV) RNA.The proportion of sporadic HA, especially severe cases, was found to be increasing without significant differences in patient backgrounds. Furthermore, a significant correlation between clinicopathological features of HA and nucleotide sequences of the 5' nontranslated region of HAV was observed, suggesting that strain difference plays a role in the severity of HA. |
