[ Summary ] Patient risk assessment is important in the Osteoporosis Liaison Service (OLS). The Fracture Liaison Service focuses on the prevention of secondary fractures and has created the Best Practice Framework as a tool that can assess the liaison's service. The OLS-7 that standardized concrete criteria into seven items has been formulated for the OLS for the prevention of primary and secondary fractures. The OLS-7 includes as follows: 1) fracture risk assessment, 2) existing fracture and co-morbidity assessment, 3) nutritional status assessment, 4) exercise/fall risk assessment, 5) medication status assessment, 6) QOL/ADL assessment, and 7)construction of a circulating cooperation system. A detailed version, simplified version, and minimum version are already established; with these, it is possible to select and work according to each medical staff and medical site. It is hoped that many medical institutions will start and spread the OLS for preventing primary and secondary osteoporotic fractures.
