[ Summary ] |
Physical activity, including exercise, can affect the prognosis of dialysis patients. Physical activity prevents the deterioration of psychological health and illnesses such as depression. Particularly, exercise and sports for leisure have high psychological health benefits. This is thought to be due to psychosocial factors such as pleasure, sense of accomplishment, and expansion of the social network. In dialysis patients, maintaining physical activity and reducing sitting time are significant for improving physical and mental health. However, dialysis patients do not have exercise habits and often have low physical fitness. In such cases, starting with low-intensity exercises, such as stretching and gradually increasing the number of steps, is thought to increase life expectancy and helps maintain and improve quality of life (QOL). |
