[ Summary ] The characteristics of an ultra thin caliber colonoscope, the PCF-PQ260 by the Olympus corporation with passive bending and a high force transmission insertion tube are introduced, as well as basic insertion technique using PCF-PQ260 are illustrated as well.Insertion techniques for colonoscopy employed using basic endoscopic operations: for example, avoiding insufflation, pushing folds aside, avoiding excessive stretching, using characteristics of the insertion segment of colonoscopes, recognizing the warping, abdominal hand pressure and patient position changes. The PCF-PQ260 should be inserted into colon in the same way as other kinds of colonoscopes using the basics of endoscopic operations. However, because the PCF-PQ260's tube is soft and has passive bending, some different insertion techniques are required. Therefore, these techniques are explained.
