| [ Summary ] | EMR and ESD are performed as endoscopic therapies for laterally spreading tumors. Because piecemeal resection may cause local recurrence regardless of the method of treatment, regular surveillance colonoscopy is necessary for diagnosis of local recurrence and metachronous lesions. In the case of follow-ups for T1 carcinoma after endoscopic resection without additional surgery, it is essential to search not only for local recurrence but lymph node recurrence and metastatic recurrence. Although appropriate surveillance methods have not yet been established in Japan, it is necessary to consider histopathological features and number of lesions. |
