[ Summary ] |
A pSM depth of 1,000μm is one histopathologic factor indicated in the JSCCR Guidelines (2005 and 2009) to determine treatment strategies for endoscopically resected pSM colorectal carcinoma (pSM CRC). A pSM depth less than 1,000μm is a significant factor to predict the curative potential of pSM CRC with endoscopic treatment. However, it must be noted that the overestimation of pSM depths of 1,000 μm or more as a factor to determine additional surgery after endoscopic resection may result in overtreatment of patients. |
