Magnesium (Mg), the fourth most abundant cation in the body, plays an important role in over 300 enzyme reactions, transport processes and synthesis of proteins, DNA and RNA. It has been reported magnesium deficiency relates to higher risks of cardiovascular mortality. It has also been reported magnesium plays an important role for CKD patients. The relationship between magnesium and CKD-MBD has attracted a good deal of attention. In this section, we present a review of the correlation between parathyroid hormone, vascular calcification and mortality. |
