In order to sustain functional activities in the elderly, promotion of muscloskeletal maintenance is important in terms of successful aging and healthy longevity. Reduction in the number of falls and fall-related injuries as well as treatment of osteoporosis is necessary to maintain activities associated with daily life. Recent findings reveal a possibility that there is a relationship between bone metabolism and the properties of skeletal muscles, represented by a pathophysiological linkage between osteoporosis and sarcopenia. |
