[ Summary ] |
Recent experiments with osteocalcin-deficient mice and the mevalonate pathway in cultured cells have indicated that there is a common pathogenesis between bone metabolism and glucose/lipid metabolism. Clinical studies also suggest that type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia and hypertension may have detrimental effects on bone, while metabolic syndrome may have a beneficial effect on it. |
