[ Summary ] |
Hyperphosphatemia is one bone mineral and bone disorder, related to chronic kidney disease. This is especially so with end stage renal disease (ESRD) patients, in whom nutritional disturbances due to phosphate restriction with protein restriction are closely associated with patient's survival. Therefore, active phosphate binder therapy is an effective treatment for ESRD patients with low phosphate diet therapy. However, the aggressive phosphorus removal through blood purifi cation modalities is also important for adequate control of serum phosphate levels. This review is wrriten to explain the essentials of phosphate binder therapy. |
