【 要旨 】 ポストゲノムと呼ばれる時代になり，ゲノム解析は新たな展開を見せている．SNPやマイクロアレイを用いた，多因子疾患の解析や遺伝子発現プロファイリングにより，医学研究や実際の医療にゲノム情報を大いに活用できる時代が来た．また，ゲノム解析は次の段階として，塩基配列という一次元情報を超えた，ゲノムの高次構造による遺伝子発現の制御機構を解明することが課題であろう．またゲノム解析技術が引き起こす新たな倫理上の問題についても，留意すべき点がある．

[ Summary ] Since the completion of human genome sequencing, we are now living in a post-genome era. We can apply genome information to medical science using SNPs analyses for identification of responsible genes with complex traits, or microarrays for gene-expression profiling. Mechanisms of gene expression, regulated by the higher order structures of the chromosomes may remain an enigma, and are still to be elucidated. Furthermore, we need to address the fact that genome analyses is involved with ethical, legal, and social implications.
