The pathomechanism of joint destruction, degradation of articular cartilage and bone destruction, has been elucidated more clearly due to recent progress in molecular biology. New therapeutic strategies to target the cytokines those play a pivotal role in pathogenesis and to regulate the transcription of disease-related genes have significant therapeutic potential in the inflammatory process. COX-2 inhibitor which suppress selectively COX-2 is expected to lead a significant decrease in adverse events. We review recent reports of these anti-inflammatory therapies on joint destruction. |
