| [ Summary ] | The term, "bone formation marker", is considered to be an inadequate term because the bone formation markers and bone resorption markers are both highly correlated with bone turnover rates. So the correct terminology for bone formation markers should be changed to "marker of osteoblast differentiation". Among these markers, undercarboxylated osteocalcin may assume unique position as an indicator of bone quality. | |
