[ Summary ] |
Dry weight is defined on the basis of the following three criteria: (i) body weight with appropriate body fluid volume, (ii) no rapid and excessive decrease in blood pressure during dialysis, and (iii) lack of marked long-term burden on the cardiovascular system. The main targets of dialysis therapy include achieving adequate dry weight and controlling volume status. As no single index has been established to determine dry weight, frequent assessment of blood pressure, cardiothoracic ratio, and other markers is the fundamental strategy to determine dry weight. |
