[ Summary ] |
For patients to accept hemodialysis, it is important that they envisage life on hemodialysis during its introductory period. However, it is difficult for patients to envisage life on hemodialysis in the presence of uncertainties during the critical stage of introducing hemodialysis. For patients to accept life on hemodialysis, medical professionals must understand the uncertainties and experiences that are unimaginable or unfamiliar to patients, such as the changes necessary in everyday life and changes in the sense of values due to the introduction of hemodialysis. In addition, they must respond to problems that are clearly understandable. Evaluation of the participants in this study provided better awareness of the importance of assisting patients in envisaging and understanding a life on hemodialysis, which consists of experiences that are unknown to and unforeseen by patients. |
