I refl ected on a case in which maintenance hemodialysis was withdrawn due to disdialysis syndrome. The patient seemed to be able to accept the situation, so I supported the patient to think about how to spend the last time with family. This support allowed the patient and his/her family to decide to withdraw from dialysis and pursue care at home. This reflection taught me that it is important to respect the individual's intention, to discuss with relevant medical staff, and to find the best treatment and direction of care. |
