[ Summary ] |
The creation and maintenance of vascular access (VA) points, which are necessary to provide stable hemodialysis therapy. As for the choice of VA, arteriovenous fistula (AVF) using patient's blood vessels is considered to be the best choice in terms of achieving good probe patency rates and avoiding complications. When that is impossible, arteriovenous grafts (AVG) using artificial blood vessels, artery superficialization, or cuffed catheters may be used for VA. It is important to prevent complications, including infection to establish good VA points. Early detection of complications and treatment is necessary when employing these techniques. |
